Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-02

Stablereef ("the App", "we") is built privacy-first. The App does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data, and your aquarium data never leaves your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

What We Collect

None of your aquarium data. Stablereef has no user accounts and no login. Everything you enter — your tanks, water parameter measurements, trends, and reminders — is stored only on your device in a local database. It is never sent to us or to any third-party server.

The one thing that does leave the App is anonymous usage statistics: counts of actions such as "a reading was logged", "an import was run", or "a trend was viewed". These tell us which parts of the App actually help, so we can improve the right things. They include:

Statistics are keyed only to a random identifier that the App generates on your device. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage stats." When it is off, nothing is sent at all. Everything in the App keeps working either way.

We do not use advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. Uncaught errors are written to a log file on your device; that log is only ever shared if you tap the button to share it yourself.

When you tap Send feedback, the App opens your own mail app with a message addressed to us, pre-filled with the App version and your operating system version so we can reproduce what you ran into. It contains none of your aquarium data, and nothing is sent to us unless you press send yourself.

How Your Data Is Stored

Purchases

The App currently offers no in-app purchases and includes no payment or purchase-verification services. If purchases are added in the future, this policy will be updated first.

Notifications

If you enable dosing or measurement reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated on-device and are not sent through any push server.

Data Deletion

Because there is no account and no server, deleting your data is entirely in your control:

There is nothing for us to delete on our side, because we never receive your aquarium data. The anonymous usage statistics are not tied to you or to any account, so there is no "your data" for us to look up — but you can stop sending them at any time in Settings → Privacy. See Data Deletion for details.

Third-Party Services

One, for anonymous usage statistics only: PostHog (posthog.com), which receives the anonymous event counts described above and nothing else. No advertising networks, no crash-reporting services, no cloud storage of your aquarium data. Your tanks, readings, trends, and reminders are never sent anywhere.

Children

The App is a hobby/utility tool and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. The anonymous usage statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to identify anyone of any age.

Your Rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our side. You already have full control: your aquarium data lives on your device and can be exported or deleted by you at any time, and anonymous usage statistics can be switched off in Settings → Privacy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the App changes (for example, if optional cloud features are added in the future). Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
